Practice saying out loud the following dates (all of which occur in the text.) Note that the Russian pattern for writing dates out in numbers is date–month–year (as opposed to the American pattern of month–date–year). Thus, 3.2.02 in Russia is третье февраля 2002 г., while the same numbers signify March 2, 2002 in the U.S. (When a Russian date consists only of two numbers, the reader has to tell by context whether the numbers signify date and month or month and year.)
